Care Without Burnout CIC is a community‑interest company created to support unpaid carers with clarity, connection, and practical guidance.
The CIC is founder‑led and mission‑driven, operating with an asset lock to ensure all resources are used for community benefit.

The intellectual property, brand, and creative frameworks used by the CIC are owned by DBC: The Second Ascent Ltd, the Founder’s limited company, and licensed to the CIC under a fair‑market, regulator‑friendly agreement.

2. What Care Without Burnout CIC Is

Care Without Burnout CIC exists to provide accessible, emotionally intelligent support for unpaid carers through:

  • free and paid for digital resources

  • community spaces

  • live support sessions

  • micro‑learning

  • signposting

  • advocacy

  • optional paid programmes

Paid services may be delivered by the CIC or, where appropriate, by DBC: The Second Ascent Ltd under a transparent service agreement.

3. Purpose (Objects)

Care Without Burnout CIC exists to:

  • support unpaid carers emotionally and practically

  • reduce isolation and improve wellbeing

  • provide clear, accessible guidance

  • create safe, inclusive spaces for connection

  • advocate for recognition, dignity, and visibility for carers

  • deliver high‑quality free and paid programmes that strengthen resilience

These purposes guide all decisions, activities, and use of resources.

5. Leadership & Governance

Care Without Burnout CIC is governed by its Founder & CEO, Donna Bentley‑Carr, who holds responsibility for:

  • safeguarding and risk management

  • oversight of community spaces

As the CIC grows, the Founder may appoint advisors, collaborators, or contractors.
Additional governance structures may be introduced if beneficial for funding, partnerships, or safeguarding.

The CIC has members, not shareholders.
The Founder is the sole member and guarantor.

6. Participation

Anyone engaging with the CIC is considered a participant, not a member.

Participants may:

  • access free content

  • join community spaces

  • purchase paid programmes

  • offer feedback

Participants do not hold governance responsibilities.

8. Finance & Use of Surplus

Income may come from:

  • grants

  • NHS commissioning

  • local authority contracts

  • premium membership

  • paid programmes and events

  • donations or sponsorships

Financial decisions are made by the Founder in line with the CIC’s community purpose and asset lock.

Surplus is reinvested into:

  • improving the digital platform

  • expanding services

  • subsidising access for carers in hardship

  • strengthening partnerships and delivery capacity

If the Founder contributes personal funds, these may be recorded as a Director’s Loan and repaid when the CIC has sufficient surplus.

The CIC may pay a reasonable licence fee to DBC: The Second Ascent Ltd for use of intellectual property.

9. Safeguarding & Boundaries

Care Without Burnout CIC provides wellbeing‑focused support, not clinical or statutory services.

We:

  • maintain clear boundaries

  • respond appropriately to concerns

  • signpost to professional services when needed

  • ensure community spaces are moderated and psychologically safe

10. Terms of Engagement

By engaging with the CIC, participants agree to:

  • use content for personal use only

  • behave respectfully in community spaces

  • understand that services are not medical, clinical, legal, or statutory advice

Paid services may be delivered by the CIC or by DBC: The Second Ascent Ltd.

This is a legal requirement of the CIC asset lock.
